    Artemis is just CRAZY.
I got her out no less than 7 times tonight. That one last one was just a good night snuggle/kiss and then right back in, because when I went to turn Logan's tv off, she saw me, and I can't just NOT acknowledge her.

It's gotten to the point where if I'm in there, and she's awake, she's demanding out by climbing the door and just HANGING on it. LOL I can't stand to put her back in there because as soon as I do she's climbing trying to get back out, and when I shut the door, she's sitting there, looking at me. Hanging on the door.

I need a hamster cozy or something. Like those baby carriers. So I can tote her around all night.

    More holly bushes!
Apparently the shapeless blobs that have been in our front yard since we moved in, are Schillings Yaupon hollys. *facepalm* I found the id tag on one when I was cleaning out the bed they're in. If I'd have know that, I would have paid more attention to them! Holly bushes are my favorites. I thought they were just random bushy evergreens.

They've looked SO scraggly since we've been here though. And I replanted one years ago around back, about thirty feet away from the new holly that we just got. Any chance of inter-holly species pollination? I know my new holly is a female.

Also, is there ANY way I can get these guys back looking full, dense, and round again? They look skeletal, with all their leaves on the ends of very long, skinny, scraggly branches. I don't want to prune on them much unless I know it's the right time to do it.

    I can't believe I didn't know what they were.

    Marissa is over again!
I thought I wasn't going to have her today, because they didn't drop her off with Rosemary this morning.

But my step dad just called and said he had "a couple of errands to run" and, oh, that Marissa had been crying non stop since she had woke up because she didn't get to come over here with Rosemary. So he was like "I'm going to drop her off if that's ok?!". LOL I figured something like that would happen, because yesterday she was BEGGING to just stay the night so she could be over here today.

Who knows what errands my step dad has to do today. It probably involves going out for lunch, and blowing money that they don't have, since that's what he's best at. Or he was just tired of hearing Marissa cry, gave in, and brought her over. I just find it really hard to say one good thing about him anymore. He's the type that's a total charismatic charmer when you first meet him, but then when you realize that most of the talk he does is JUST TALK and he has no clue what he's talking about... It makes you lose respect for a person fast.

    It's DARK out already.
It's been looking rainy for a couple of hours, but it's so dark out right now it looks like the sun should have already set. LOL I had set candles out this morning to burn all day and the light looks so pretty flickering. I'm going to have to break down and turn on a light in a little while, though. :( Pesky cleaning. Can't we just NOT do it? :P Perhaps I'll vacuum in the dark. And of course MISS everything I'm trying to suck up.

I don't know if we'll actually get any rain out of this. I hope so, because every little bit we get helps.

I'm just amazed when I look up from the computer. It looks like dusk out there. LOL The whole house is dark.

*dances around* Rain, already! *dances more*

    You guys ok?
Ricky just called me and let me know there's apparently a huge fire somewhere in England (he couldn't remember where). He thought I'd want to ask everyone if they're ok.

So are you guys ok? What happened? I haven't seen anything on it.

Sometimes my husband is thoughtful. LOL

    It's that time of year.
The weather has finally decided that for the week, it's going to be mild. This is the kind of weather I associate with Thanksgiving and Christmas, since I come from Alabama. We had VERY mild winters, until around mid-January. I even have pics of me wearing shorts and a tee shirt in the obligitory family picture at my Grandmother's house for Christmas. :)

With that said, I've been actually HOMESICK. Someone make it go AWAY. But not for the place, for the people. I miss my Grandmother, my uncle and my aunt, whom I SWEAR I've been connected to in multiple past lives to be this attatched to them. They are what make "home" HOME when we go back to visit.

Got a pomegranate the other day, and it took me three days to eat it. LOL Those darn little seeds! It's kind of my way of remembering Persephone and Demeter at this time of year. As soon as I saw the display in the store, Ricky just walked over and got me one. Sometimes he's in tune and just doesn't realise it. But don't tell him that. He'll have a "OMG I'M NOT PAGAN" freakout moment. :P

Artemis has gotten REALLY tame and turned into a lap-hamster. Two nights in a row now she's insisted I get her out and let her crawl on me twice in one night. Last night she wouldn't quit climbing the cage and looking at me until I had played with her twice. And the night before she gave me SUCH a scare. I had just put her back in her cage and shut the door. I reached over to give Hammy a piece of bread, then looked back at Artemis's cage. It was empty and the door was open, so I guess it hadn't caught all the way when I shut it. I started to panic because I figured she had run right off, and with three cats in the house that's just a disaster waiting to happen. When all the sudden I feel a tiny demanding nose shoving against my leg. Then tiny claws digging in so that she could climb in my lap. Yes, ladies and gentleman, she had escaped her cage only to cuddle on me. O.M.G. What on earth am I going to do when this hamster dies, in only a year or so? I'm going to be a wreck for days.

I have my sisters today! \o/
Mom said she got tired of my step dad using Marissa (who's *4* and is very independent) as an excuse for not doing anything around the house while he's in his self - imposed work exile. So she didn't ask him if he preferred for her to be here or not. She didn't wake him, she just left a note and brought her over here. It's for the best, because he doesn't interact with her at all. He didn't even notice, when yesterday, she went outside and turned the water hose on. And proceeded to soak herself and the yard, making a gigantic mud pit. How do you not notice that?! Especially when it's only around 40 degrees outside at the time. YEESH.

At least she's HERE. Where I know she's not being ignored, or having to wade through trash to get around the house.

    Veteran's Day
When we were back in Alabama, I always tried to get by the Vietnam memorial wall, to place something in honor of my uncle Roger.

But I never thought about all my family who was still alive and had served. Now I'm married to a Vet. My mind boggles.

So to Ricky (Navy), Granddaddy (Army), Uncle Durell (Navy), Uncle Derek (Army), and yes, especially to my uncle Roger who I never got to meet (Army), THANK YOU. I may not be pro-war, but I AM in favor of doing everything we can to support those fighting for our country. Because I know first hand how hard it is.

You know, I almost went into the Army right after high school. They were after me for MONTHS with calls and letters because my science grades were so high. And I'm ashamed to say I'm so glad I didn't. Because I could have very well have been overseas.

LOL This is from my horoscope today...
"There are some people who will never see reason and never see anyone’s point of view but their own.

Those are the people who you feel simply need a bonk on the head to wake them up. The fact that you have yet to deliver the much-needed bonk has earned you praise.

Now, step back and wait because very soon, someone else will do the dirty work."

Now, granted, it's from the Weekly World News. But.

I'm convinced it's talking about my mom and stepdad.

Because Rosemary missed school yesteray. Why? Was she sick? No. They couldn't FIND HER SHOES. WTF?! Mom said she must have taken them off the night before, somewhere outside or at a neighbor's house. But WHY didn't they notice her coming in the house without them on?! It was FREEZING out!

Cut, because it's going to get long.

    I'm in a good mood.
But PMS has taken it's toll. I spent all day yesterday wanting to cry. We'll see if today is better. And tommorow? Ricky's taking an off day just to take one because he has like 3 weeks of holiday time that he has to use by New Years, or it just gets wasted because the company doesn't roll over holiday hours, and doesn't let you cash it in. *sporks* We'll see how the day goes.

Although I laughed so hard this morning. I told Ricky that today is Mikey's birthday, right? I'm standing there holding Mikey like a baby, with his belly showing. And Ricky comes up and starts going (IN BABY TALK)"Who's the birthday boy? Who is it!? Is it you? YES IT IS!" and then he snuggled his face into Mikey's stomach.

MY HUSBAND, who claims he HATES cats, even OUR cats, did this. I think he protests too much.

Also? I'm making chili today because it's oh, THIRTY degrees colder today than yesterday. NO LIE. *shivers* So I have the crock pot out. Although, my chili more resembles gumbo, or something. Most people that make chili only have meat, or meat and beans in there. I throw in pretty much anything. Mushrooms, bell pepper, tomatoes, onion... LOL

    Happy birthday, Mikey!
My cat (well, Logan's cat) Mikey is four today!

He shares a birthday with Lestat. I've always found that hilarious.

Because they share the same personality. Really.

Mikey is the type of cat who's very vocal. And wants held ALL DAY. That's one of the reasons I picked him out of the litter to keep. When the all the other kittens were wobbling around on shakey legs, and could have cared less about wanting held or petted (they were all butterballs and wanted to eat from Mango ALL THE TIME), Mikey actually flew out from under the bed when he heard me, bumping into things, MEOWING at the top of his lungs wanting petted and held. LOL

Yeah, that tiny kitten roar killed me. He was such a loving kitten. And it's translated into a VERY loving cat.

    So happy birthday, Mikey!

My cell number, for those who need it/want it.
Since TWO of my friends have posted their new numbers in the past couple of days, I figured I could post mine, too. I got a new number back a couple of months ago and haven't given it out yet. Because I'm lazy and have forgot, ok? And I trust you guys enough to post it here. Because most of you won't even want/need it. But there's a handful of you guys that need the updated number. Just in case I murder someone, or aliens abduct you, or WWIII breaks out. *eyes [info]countessmary and [info]purplefeen* Anyone's welcome to it, because I don't friend anyone that I wouldn't want having it.

So if you want it, here it is. Feel free to leave me crazy voicemails. Flood my inbox. I don't care, and I need something to laugh at. LOL

    So here it is.

    Holidays are decided
Ricky's taken off the 21st through the 28th this year for Christmas, so we can go to Alabama. Although, I have high hopes. He's off the Friday before, and all that week so his theory was that we could stay that weekend after as well. BUT. Just yesterday he had changed the plans already and said we'd be coming back that Friday. LOL

He does this every year and blames it on not wanting to being too tired for work. Watch. By the time it get's here, we'll be leaving like a day or two after Christmas instead of staying all week. BWAHAHAHA! He gets so bored with being back and so tired of his family, he wants OUT. He just won't admit it.

I've already gotten my plan worked out as well. [info]eeyore67 is going to call me as much as humanly possible that week to comfort me. I'm going to ignore Ricky's family for once, just like he does mine. And I'm not allowing Logan OR myself to go outside over at Ricky's mom's house, no matter what he says. Because a SEX OFFENDER lives right beside them. NO JOKE. He's convicted for rape AND indecency with a minor (both separate charges). SO NO. And Ricky can get over it.

    Plant advice?
The holly I planted about a month ago had black spots when I planted it that were getting worse. I was going to get some fungicide this weekend, but I went and looked today and... No black spots ANYWHERE.

Could the black spots have been a reaction to not getting enough water where they WERE planted, and they recovered from it when I had them and watered them/we got rain? Or can fungus go into remission? Do I still need to get a fungicide for it?

A question for my British friends...
Do you guys really have something called "Breakfast in a Can"?! And if so, HOW does it taste? Do you really eat it, or is it one of those products that people never buy, yet sucker tourists into trying? LOL

I've just read a review of it and I'm sooo curious. How does it work? Do you cook it? Microwave it?

    Pics of Halloween!
Here's one of Logan. You can see, his legs were so long, the bootie part of the costume didn't want to go over his shoes. It was a 8-10 size. LOL
